MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Sweet Heat Review and Swatches

MAC is ready to hurdle through space and time with their new collection, In Extra Dimension!

The launch is comprised of two new products: a liquid-powder eye shadow ($20) and a liquid-powder highlighter ($29), both featuring something fancy called "prismatic reflections." I decided to try the Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Sweet Heat for my ticket to the future, MAC-style.

I have no idea what "liquid-powder" means, but the Extra Dimension shadow seems like powder to me.

Still, it looks pretty cool in the pan. MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Sweet Heat is very bright and shiny, and I love the design. I think maybe the imprint hardened the top layer of shadow somewhat though, because I had to hit it quite a few times to load up my brush. It got better after roughed up the top layer a little bit, but Sweet Heat is definitely not the creamiest eye shadow around.

Sweet Heat is described as a "bright peach champagne," which is the perfect description for this lovely shade.

For this look, I applied MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Sweet Heat from my lash line almost to my brown bone. I used Urban Decay Darkhorse to contour and Too Faced Silk Teddy to highlight. I've included pictures in both natural and artificial light to try to show how much MAC Extra Dimension Sweet Heat shines, but neither really do it justice!

Can you see the prismatic reflections?

I am pretty darn happy with MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Sweet Heat. The color makes a lovely, neutral base with a special brightness that keeps it from being ordinary. I recommend wearing primer with this eye shadow to get the most mileage out of the shine.

What do you think of Sweet Heat?  Who would win in a fight: MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow or MAC Reel Sexy Dynamic Duo Eye Shadow?

  3. That is nice! I don't use make up very often, but when I do I like a minimalist look.
