Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose Review and Swatches

Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose

Something about British makeup brand Illamasqua just draws me in. I love their approach to makeup and the brand's dark, dramatic aesthetic. Even their tagline, "Make-up for your Alter Ego" is so evocative -- Illamasqua wants to fire you up so you can be the person you dream of being, whoever that may be.

Maybe you're scared to incorporate bright lips in your everyday makeup look. With it's bright-yet-sheer color, Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose ($20) could help you be a woman who rocks bright lips like it's nothing.

Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose is described as a "warm raspberry pink." On me, it showed up as a fuchsia-pink. The shade is bright, but the gloss has enough sheerness to tone the color down and make it more wearable.

Texture-wise, Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose feels more jelly-like than some other lip glosses I've tried. The gel texture feels smooth and pleasant on my lips and minimizes the appearance of lines.

Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose has a pretty strong fruity scent that reminds me Pez candy. The gloss also has a mildly sweet and fruity flavor.

Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose has a brush applicator, and I was prepared to dislike it after having trouble with lip glosses with brush applicators in the past. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the brush tip in Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose is large and fans out over your lips to coat them evenly. This applicator is much easier to use than I expected.

Bottom Line: Illamasqua is continuing to win me over with their fun, high-quality products. I like the lovely bright fuchsia pink of Illamasqua Sheer Lip Gloss in Lily-Rose, and I'm glad that they tempered the intensity with sheerness. Not all of our alter egos are bold enough for super shocking lips!
