Laura Mercier Colour Preview Collectionis a limited edition, six-piece collection that has everything you need for a gorgeous new look tucked inside a cute and chic cosmetic bag.

Laura Mercier Colour Preview Collection contains:
  • Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (1 oz)
  • Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara (0.2 oz)
  • Eye Duo in Sandstone/Cognac (0.09 oz)
  • Second Skin Cheek Colour in Citrus Spark (0.13 oz)
  • Gel Lip Colour in Grapefruit (0.11 oz)
  • Double-Ended Ponytail/Eye Colour Brush
Laura Mercier's brand trademark seems to be subtly glamorous shades in ultra luxe formulas, and this collection embodies that aesthetic to a T. Let's take a closer look at each of the pieces:

Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara
Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara

Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara has an extremely lightweight formula for long, feathery lashes without the clumps. This black mascara is not dramatic by any means, but rather gives natural looking volume and length that is perfect for daytime. I really like how soft Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara makes my lashes look.

Laura Mercier Eye Duo in Sandstone/Cognac

Laura Mercier Eye Duo in Sandstone/Cognac contains Sandstone, a pale, shimmery peach-pink shade, and Cognac, a medium-dark coppery brown shade. Sandstone has great pigmentation and makes for a stunning highlight shade. Cognac has a little less pigmentation, but still does a good job at contouring for a daytime eye that's not heavy or overdone.

I love the ease of the two-in-one Double-Ended Ponytail/Eye Colour Brush that is included in Laura Mercier's Colour Preview Collection. The short, thick end allows you to effectively pat on dense amounts of eyeshadow, while the fluffy end is great for applying color to the crease and blending for a look that is seamless and professional. No more digging around for the perfect brush when you have everything you need in a single item!

Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Citrus Spark

Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Citrus Spark looks bright in the pan, but it applies fairly sheer for a gorgeous, buildable flush. This juicy coral with gold shimmer is so flattering and fun for summer. Citrus Spark has quite a bit of pink so this blush never looks orange.

Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour in Grapefruit

Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour in Grapefruit is a super sheer, balmy lipstick that's perfect for this season's glossy lipstick trend. This vanilla-scented lip color deposits just enough pink-coral pigment for your lips to look lush and polished with a single coat, and it layers well if you prefer a brighter pop of color.

Here are swatches of all of the color makeup items in the collection:

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

This collection also includes Laura Mercier's original Foundation Primer. This water-based primer has a unique, creamy gel texture that feels extremely lightweight and moisturizing on skin. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer was one of the very first primers, and it's a classic for a reason: the formula includes light-reflecting pigments to visually perfect skin and Retinyl Palmitate to combat aging. I don't see any silicones on the ingredients list either, so this primer is a good choice for people looking for a 'cone-free formula. However, the absence of silicone means that Laura Mercier Foundation Primer does not significantly reduce the size of pores.

Finally, Laura Mercier Colour Preview Collection includes a How To Card with tips to use all six pieces of the set. The eyeshadow instructions are particularly helpful for makeup beginners.

Bottom Line: I think the Colour Preview Collection is a wonderful introduction to the Laura Mercier brand. There are enough items to help you create a complete look, so this set would be a good choice for someone new to the makeup game. Plus, the products are so pretty, well-coordinated, and luxurious that you'll look like a pro, no matter your level of expertise.
