MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color in Relaxation and Out for Fun Review and Swatches

MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color in Relaxation and Out for Fun

MAC's new Casual Color collection is all about fuss-free weekend beauty, so it makes sense that the release would include a multitasking product. With MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color ($20), you can roll out of bed on Sunday morning and grab a single product to get your cheeks and lips done in a flash.

MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color is available in eight shades, all of them subtle and natural. No Beth Ditto brights here! I tried MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color in Out for Fun, a reddish coral, and Relaxation, a light lilac pink.

Both MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color Out for Fun and Relaxation have good pigmentation, and I think both of the shades are lovely and flattering.

MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color is easy to blend, too. I brought Out for Fun with me on a trip to the redwoods in Northern California, and I dabbed it on my cheeks before a hike and was ready to go in seconds.

My biggest problem with MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color is that it sets to a satin finish. My personal preference is for creme blushes that set to a matte finish, like Youngblood Luminous Creme Blush. Granted, I need to do everything I can to keep oily skin at bay, so people with normal or dry skin might prefer the satin finish of MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color.

MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color in Relaxation is described as a warm pink, but it shows up as a cooler, lilac pink on me. This is not a color I normally wear, and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it looks on my cheeks. My lips are another story -- I think MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color in Relaxation is too light for me to wear as a lip color.

Now, MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color in Out for Fun is a much more typical shade for me. I love corals, and Out for Fun is no exception. I think this shade brings my complexion alive in a very flattering way, and I love how it looks on my lips, too.

Bottom Line: If you don't mind creme blushes with a satin finish, check out MAC Casual Color Lip and Cheek Color in Relaxation or Out for Fun. Both are lovely, natural shades that make it easy to get your lips and cheeks done AND coordinated in seconds. I really appreciate this change of pace from MAC -- after looking at so many super bright colors from them lately, I am happy to be trying something easy, breezy, and naturally beautiful.

    1. Yeah, you can get color advice in an online chat on MAC's website! I've never tried it but it could be helpful. You can always ask me questions via email too if you want a second opinion :)

  2. They're so pretty... I've been sooo tempted by the pink & the lilac ones... I'm just not sure I would end up using them as much as I should - they are almost $30 each in Canada where I am... I've been trying to reduce the volume of products I have as it is before they go rancid... so sad, but true :-( thanks for the review!

    1. I always forget the Canadian prices are different! That must be so frustrating. Are things more expensive at Sephora too?

    1. The MAC collections just keep on coming too -- it's practically impossible to keep up.
