I may be vegan, but I love Butter!

Butter London, that is. The non-toxic, high fashion British nail polish brand is swiftly becoming one of my very favorites thanks to its gorgeous shade selection, impeccable formula and top-notch wear time.

Butter London Nail Lacquer in Wallis ($14) is named after Wallis Simpson, an American socialite who married Edward VIII of the British monarchy in the 1930s. He had recently ascended to the throne as King when their romance began. On top of that, both Wallis and Edward were married to other people, resulting in major S-C-A-N-D-A-L. He even abdicated his kingship to marry her!

It seems to me that there must have been something about Wallis, and all accounts seem to indicate that she was a total HBIC. It's only fitting, then, that Butter London Nail Lacquer in Wallis is an unapologetically badass shade named after an undeniably fierce lady (Note that Butter London didn't opt to design this polish in Wallis' signature shade of Blue. Too demure, I think).

Filled to the brim with tarnished glitter, Butter London Nail Lacquer in Wallis is an irresistible olive gold metallic shade that's perfect for unleashing your inner vamp. I could see it paired just as easily with matte red lips for a retro Hollywood look or with a worn-in leather jacket for cool girl downtown glam. I knew this polish was a total winner when my Dad couldn't get over how awesome it was.

Plus, it applies like an absolute dream: beautiful coverage, fast drying, and no streaks whatsoever. Even with my cheapest base and top coats (I'm trying to use them up, okay?), I get five days of good-looking wear with Butter London Nail Lacquer in Wallis.

One last heads up -- I actually got Butter London Nail Lacquer in Wallis for free thanks to a special deal I got by signing up to preview Coterie, a new beauty flash sale site. It was a one time deal and I have no incentive to promote the site, but I love Coterie's concept and interface so I just wanted to mention it. It's like Hautelook for makeup (i.e. dangerous yet oh-so-alluring)! They have a Stila sale coming up so keep an eye out if that's your bag.

  1. That is an interesting color. I don't think I could rock it, but I'm glad you liked it!

    1. It looks a little more like a antiqued gold in natural light. I promise, it's awesome!

  2. My friend got some Butter London colors through this sale, too. She says the brand is amazing.

    1. Butter is a really great brand! You should check it out :)
