Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in 12 Corail Fauve Review and Swatches

If you feel like making a splurge, I have a fantastic product for you.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain($32) has everything. Beautiful color, glossy shine, and staying power that just won't quit. When I first tried it, I couldn't wait to go out and show it off. Lucky for me, I got to show it off through brunch, lunch, and drinks, too.

The slanted tip of Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain makes perfect application a cinch, and the texture is easy to spread.

The formula feels thin at first, but YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain is notable for how its texture changes. After a few moments, the formula transforms from a thin liquid to a gel-like gloss with high shine and comfort.

Incredibly, the glossy finish lasts through several meals and the underlying stain lasts even longer. Plus, the gel texture of YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain avoids the the uncomfortable, dry feeling that is common among lip stains, and the shine looks gorgeous, sexy, and polished.

Based on Sephora's color swatches, I wasn't expecting much from Corail Fauve. While the pictures make it look like your standard-issue coral pink, the reality is so much better! To my eye, Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in 12 Corail Fauve appears to be more of a pinky-red coral, which I love.

"Corail Fauve" is French for "tawny coral." Tawny denotes a golden brown hue. I don't see much brown is this shade, but the color is somewhat muted. Although it is a little bold, it isn't crazy bright and looks great for daily wear.

Bottom Line: Although the price tag is high, I foresee Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in 12 Corail Fauve becoming a constant fixture in my makeup bag. The color makes me feel confident and pretty, and the wear time of the glossy stain is exceptional. With 19 shades to choose from, I bet you can find a YSL Rouge Pur Couture Stain to fall in love with too!

Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels in Bared and Unveiled Review and Swatches

Pauline Youngblood, the founder and president of Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, takes a natural approach to makeup. While working as a medical aesthetician, she sought to create cosmetics that could be used by people with severely damaged or sensitive skin. The resulting products have simple, soothing ingredients, high-quality finishes, and formulations that promote health inside and out.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics are free of parabens, petroleum, mineral oil and fragrance. No Youngblood Cosmetics are ever tested on animals and a large number of them are vegan.

Youngblood is releasing a new set of makeup products TODAY, June 1st, including these Mighty Shine Lip Gels ($22.50):

Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels are some pretty impressive lip glosses. They have an extremely high gloss shine paired with sheer subtle color that makes for an alluring pout. Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels leave your lips perfectly kissable too, because they have a non-sticky, buttery-smooth finish. No goopy lips here!

Every time I've worn Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels, I've noticed that my lips feel extremely soft and smooth at the end of the day. That's because Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels take a two-pronged approach to lip health and beauty: they contain jojoba, meadowfoam seed, and sweet almond oils to moisturize and antioxidants to revive skin cells.

I really like the unique packaging and shape of Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels. The clear long and skinny squeeze tube showcases the pretty colors, and the slanted tip allows you to deposit just the right amount of gel on your lips. And at 0.25 oz per tube, they're larger than many other glosses (MAC Lipglasses are 0.17 oz).

I tried Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels in Unveiled and Bared. Both colors have a very high shine and fill in your lip lines for an extra smooth, glossy look.

Unveiled is a bright, hot pink with glitter. The color has hints of fuchsia that call to mind MAC Lipstick in Impassioned. I like quite a bit of pigment on my lips, and Unveiled has enough color for me to wear by itself.

Bared, on the other hand, is more of a layering shade. Bared is a sheer, sweet peach that looks great layered over pink and coral lipsticks for extra dimension and shine. This shade is glitter-free.

Bottom Line: Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels have a gorgeous, moisturizing formula derived from healthy ingredients. The price seems high, but the cost is actually the same per ounce as MAC Lipglasses with the added bonus of a non-sticky, all-natural formula. Youngblood Mighty Shine Lip Gels are a great way to get a soft, juicy pucker that's good for you, too!

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics are currently available on the brand's website, Fred Segal in Santa Monica, select spas and salons, and Amazon

Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder Review and Swatches

I've worn makeup since I was twelve-years-old, but my routine has always been pretty basic. Things changed six months ago when I decided to finally step up my makeup game.

One of the first things I did to take my look to the next level was buy my very first highlighter: Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder ($18).

Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder
Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder

Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder is a shimmering, ivory rose loose powder that leaves your skin radiant and bright. I was thrilled the first time I brushed it on: I looked more awake, my complexion had a "lit from within" glow, and my previously non-existent cheekbones were coaxed into visibility.

In addition to being beautiful, Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder is an all-natural, vegan product manufactured with environmentally sustainable practices. The simple ingredients list only includes silica and wild rose extract, followed by a smattering of five other minerals like mica and zinc.

Take a look at Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder up close:

Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder is on the cooler side of the color spectrum, but the pearly pink color includes hints of golden peach that make it wearable for both warm and cool skin tones.

Make the most of Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder's subtle shimmer by brushing it on the high planes of your face to catch the light -- cheekbones, forehead, temples, and the cupid's bow of your top lip.

I've tried many other highlighters since my first encounter with Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder, but I'm glad I started with this one. Liquid formulas in particular can be difficult to blend and challenging for beginners. This super soft powder is easy to quickly brush on and still get a natural, professional look.

With its pretty subtle shine and natural formulation, Korres Wild Rose Mineral Illuminating Powder deserves a high recommendation for makeup novices and pros alike.

MAC Hey, Sailor! Nail Lacquer in Touch of Red Review and Swatches

We've reached the end of our MAC Hey, Sailor! voyage. The last product to check out is MAC Hey, Sailor! Nail Lacquer in Touch of Red ($17):

MAC Hey, Sailor! Nail Lacquer in Touch of Red
MAC Hey, Sailor! Nail Lacquer in Touch of Red

MAC Hey, Sailor! Nail Lacquer in Touch of Red is a bright, Coca-Cola red that makes for a totally retro, Americana-inspired look. This yellow-based red would pair well with MAC Hey, Sailor! Lipstick in Red Racer or MAC Hey, Sailor Lipglass in Send Me Sailing.

What I love about MAC Nail Lacquers is their stellar formula. The brush fans out to easily coat your nail, and the lacquer applies super opaque. I'm only wearing one coat in the above picture, but the coverage is great.

MAC Nail Lacquers are also very chip-resistant. I get about 5 days of 100% chip-free wear when I pair them with the Revlon ColorStay Base and Top Coats.

Overall, I'm really loving the MAC Hey, Sailor! Collection. I think my favorite product is the MAC Hey, Sailor! Eye Shadow in Barefoot.

Give me your thoughts about the MAC Hey, Sailor! Collection. Do you like the theme? Will you be buying
any of the products?

MAC Hey, Sailor! Powder Blush in Fleet Fast ($21) is described as a "pinky golden coral." It includes gold shimmer that I can see when I look at the swatch on my arm but that was too subtle to show up in this photograph:

Pretty!

MAC Hey, Sailor! Powder Blush in Fleet Fast is not a scary, intense blush. It applies fairly sheer and looks natural. I found that the pink tones showed up more than the coral tones on me.

In this picture, I'm wearing MAC Hey, Sailor! Powder Blush in Fleet Fast over Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Fluid Foundation. I primed my skin with Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum and I'm wearing NARS Lipstick in Niagara.

I've been wearing MAC Hey, Sailor! Powder Blush in Fleet Fast every day since I got it last Wednesday, and I've had great luck with wear time. Even though it looks subtle, MAC Hey, Sailor! Powder Blush in Fleet Fast doesn't fade immediately like other sheer blushes. Instead, I get a natural, pretty flush that lasts all day.
