Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer in Light Medium Review and Swatches

Do you ever use products that are simply "good enough?" For me, that's the case with Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer in Light Medium ($10.99). I needed a new concealer and this one does its job fine, but I know I could find something better if I could muster the energy to try.

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer in Light Medium has a super smooth, creamy texture. The consistency is pretty thin, which allows for a very natural look but also makes it difficult to spot cover blemishes. Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer in Light Medium is much better suited to covering dark circles than zits.

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer in Light Medium is a light beige shade that works well for neutral, light-but-not-super-light complexions. It offers medium coverage that reduces dark circles but does not make them invisible. Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer sets to a satin finish with some luminosity that helps to deflect attention from imperfections and brighten up the eye area. This product lasts about 6 hours before it starts to settle into undereye creases.

Overall, Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer falters due to its thin consistency and less than stellar coverage. While this is a workable product, I'm sure that there are better concealers out there.

Do you have a favorite concealer? What should I try next?

I'll start it off:  My favorite skin care tip is to never ever put alcohol on your face. This ingredient is incredibly drying and damaging, yet it is so often included in skin care products. Read those labels and make sure to avoid cleansers, toners and moisturizers with alcohol at all costs!

Maybelline ExpertWear Luminous Lights Eyeshadow Quad in Gold Lights Review and Swatches

Maybelline ExpertWear Luminous Lights Eyeshadow Quad in Gold Lights
Maybelline ExpertWear Luminous Lights Eyeshadow Quad in Gold Lights

Unless you want some dry, chalky eyeshadow, you should avoid Maybelline ExpertWear Luminous Lights Eyeshadow Quad in Gold Lights ($6.49).

This quad looks pretty cute -- I love bronze, copper and gold! But the quality just does not deliver.

The shadows in Maybelline ExpertWear Luminous Lights Eyeshadow Quad in Gold Lights are hard, flaky and not very pigmented. I had to swipe them over and over just to get the colors to show up. This quad includes a pale ivory, a mid-tone bronze brown, a light gold, and a medium copper. Each of them is lackluster.

For this look, I applied the gold to my lid (though you can't really see it), the bronze in the crease, the copper above the crease, and the ivory on my browbone and inner corner. The chalky texture of these shadows made them really difficult to blend and the lack of pigment makes the whole thing look like a bit of a muddled mess.

The staying power isn't great either. Maybelline ExpertWear Luminous Lights Eyeshadow Quad in Gold Lights lasts about 3 hours without primer. Pretty dismal, really.

With quality this poor, I suggest you save your money for a different product.

I must say, it feels like I've been having bad luck with Maybelline lately (remember the Color Show Metallic Bold Gold Nail Lacquer?). Does anyone have any recommendations to renew my faith in the brand?
