Sephora by Izak Baked Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

Izak Zenou is a French illustrator known for his whimsical, breezy fashion sketches. Last month, Sephora launched a limited edition collaboration with Zenou featuring six items inspired by his playful and chic vision of the quintessential Sephora woman.

The Sephora by Izak Baked Eyeshadow Palette ($30) is a gorgeously coordinated set of 8 pearlescent baked eyeshadows housed in a compact, notebook-style palette.

I must say, I am very enamored with this eyeshadow collection. The shadows in the Sephora by Izak Baked Eyeshadow Palette have impressive pigmentation, silky smooth application, and beautiful, luminous shine. The collection even includes complex and alluring duochrome shades.

This palette has a unique advantage because it includes an equal amount of warm and cool shades for optimal versatility. The left column features four warm, golden-based colors while the right column includes cool, taupe-based shades.

Zenou's packaging for the Sephora by Izak Baked Eyeshadow Palette is absolutely adorable. I love the graphic, sleek black and white stripes adorned with a sketch of a fashionable young woman. The palette also includes an elastic strap closure that enhances the notebook aesthetic.

Plus, the Sephora by Izak Baked Eyeshadow Palette is incredibly portable. Measuring just 3.5 by 6 inches, the palette slips easily into purses, makeup bags, and luggage. I took it on a trip and had all the eyeshadow I needed in a perfectly compact package.

Now for the swatches:

Candy Bonbon is a bright, pearly light pink. Mystere is a dove grey with pink duochrome shimmer. This picture doesn't do Mystere justice -- the shade is so unique and absolutely stunning in person.

Vintage d'Epoque is extremely unique as well. This shade is a medium grey shimmer with a pink-bronze duochrome that makes for an amazing smoky eye. City of Lights is a deep, pearly brown with hints of purple and bronze.

I think Sephora and Izak Zenou did a fabulous job with this product. The quality and variety of the shadows is impressive, and I adore the chic, whimsical packaging. I want to take it everywhere, and the compact size means that I can!

Definitely check this one out before it's gone.

  1. Very pretty colors! But it seems a little pricey? How long do they last on your eyes?

    1. Hi AJ! The colors have great staying power -- they lasted through a full day of work and public transportation on me. I also always use Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer though, which makes shadows last for ever.

I agree that the price tag seems steep. I almost added something to my review pointing that out. I decided against it because I did some math and found that the price per ounce was comparable to other middle-to-high-end eyeshadows (the quality is comparable too). Sephora brand products tend to be cheaper than this, but I think this palette might be an exception because it is a limited edition artist collaboration.

I really like this palette because I love the quality of the eyeshadows and the adorable, compact packaging. If you are considering buying it, you might want to consider if you like both warm and cool eyeshadows. If you like both warm & cool, this would be a great buy for the versatility. On the other hand, if you only like cool colors it might not be worth it since you'll only use half of the shadows.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    2. Thanks for the answer. The warm/cool part is a little over my head, I'm not good at makeup AT ALL. I really need to go to Sephora and ask some questions based on my coloring. But thanks for the info :-)

    3. Aw it's not too hard AJ! I have very fair skin, but it has more of a warm, golden undertone than a cool, bluish one. So I wear colors that have a golden base instead of a silvery one, if that makes sense. I bet you'll figure it out after checking out Sephora a little bit :)

  3. I love pink shadow but I just can't pull it off. It washes me completely out and makes me look really tired. But they look amazing.

    1. Yeah, I am often attracted pink shadow but lots of them give me rabbit eyes. This one is so pale that it doesn't have that effect, thankfully.

  4. Thanks for the review Nicole... I was tempted when I saw this palette myself... Being pinkish cool, I have a tricky time with warm shades & this palette just might work for me... My "end of year" treat maybe for making it to the finish line sane!

    1. I really like that this palette has something for everyone. The warm shades aren't too warm and the cool shades aren't too cool, so I feel comfortable venturing over to the other side.

I'm sure you deserve an end of the year treat, too! Hugs :)

  5. I have this palette. I bought it because I was so attracted to Mystere! I love it so much. I'm wondering if you know of anything comparable to it? It's such a unique color.
